Sharda Education Society's Thane Anand Vishwa Gurukul College of Law's Women Development Cell had organised a program on the occasion of International Women's Day on 7th March 2020 which was presided by Mrs. Geeta Padvi (Assistance Commissioner of Police Naupada) as cheif guest. The program also witnessed by another guest Harshala Likhite( Trustee Member of Sharda Education Society and Principal of Anand Vishwa Gurukul Night College). The program was compered by F.Y.BLS students Pranali and Sawani.The program was started by National Anthem followed by a dance performance performed by Vaijanti of FY LLB which portrayed various forms of women. The program was Kindle by the lighting of lamp after which Suyash Pradhan the principal of Anand Vishwa Gurukul College of Law interacted with the students. Anand Vishwa Gurukul College of Law and Women Development Cell took an initiative by felicitating 7 women student of College for achieving a remarkable success in their respective fields along with the studies. The women who were felicitated were
1) Reshma Gokhale(Student of FYLLB)- An TV Actress 2)Surekha Jadhav (Student of FY LLB) Deputy Superintendent 3)Shiplalekha Chaudhari(Alumi of Anand Vishwa Gurukul College of Law) Awarded as First Women Entrepreneur in AntoMobile Industry 4) Hemalata Chaudhari (FYBLS) appointed as first lady in traffic department and breast cancer survival and now appointed as a police inspector 5)Swapna Tate (SYLLB ) Sub Inspector at State Intelligence Department 6) Shubada Shinde(Alumi of Anand Vishwa Gurukul College of Law) Head and Recovery officer at Ekta Co-op Credit Society and Secretary in 'Maze Maher' Ashram.7) Sugandha Gaikwad(FYLLB ) She is a conductor and works from 7 to 3 and then attend the law college at 4 pm.All these women had their struggle and have achieved such position in their life and are pursuing their studies after their marriage. After this felicitation the program was proceed by the advise by Mrs. Geeta Padvi. She firstly congratulated all the women who were feliciated and said she is proud of them. She told why 8th March is celebrated as women day. She said back in New York there was a textile industry where women and men both use to work but women were not paid the same the men were paid nor they were not allowed to vote nor own a property. This made the women to protest against all this and the same was followed by the women of Germany and France. UN said that unless and until the women will not get the rights the no country will not a developed country. The also shared that the first International Women's Day was celebrated on 8th March,1975. Mumbai celebrated it's first women day on 8th March 1942. She said Savitri Bai Phule, Rajaram Mohan Roy, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Sarojini Naidu had played a great role for women. She said that is why 13 February is celebrated as National Women Day on occasion of Sarojini Naidu's Birthday. She said women has excelled in all the field. She said as a women we should always praise and appreciate ourselves.A woman plays various roles in her life from being a daughter to being a mother. According to her not only a working woman should be felicitated but a housewife should also be feliciated.She gave information about various women rights and also said that free legal aid is a basic right of woman.
According to her, if a woman is not in a physical state to file a PIL then she can file it virtually and if it is also not possible then it is the duty of a police to go her place. Every woman also has property right. Protection from Sexual Harrasment at Workplace Act is also virtue for woman. According to her while implementating various laws the police has also various restrictions. She mentioned that the police department has went through various reforms and though prevention and detection is their duty but women protection is their priority. According to her domestic violence crime has increased after women have started working. She said every police station has a peaceful nature for a woman to feel comfortable and report her crime. She said every woman's grevience is heard by a woman officer only. She said there is zero woman trafficking in the city of Thane and with the help of operation Muskan the police have found out the kidnapped or the missing women. The Barosa cell of Police department is also working for senior citizens. According to her there can be a change in the society not only because of law reform but also because of social reform. She says we should respect the culture and values of our nation. According to her self defense is greatest weapon a woman has. She says nowadays crime against women are increasing through cyber crime and all women should be alert. She says to stop such things a woman should speak and protest against it. In the end she appealed all the Law Students to serve the victim the justice as soon as possible and also gave advice that each and everyone should maintain their health.One of the student Ms.Rupali shared her views about women day. Further Harshala Likhite Madam addressed the students and said the women who were felicitated are the Seven Wonders of Anand Vishwa Gurukul College of Law. The program ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dhanashree Gavali student of Anand Vishwa Gurukul College of Law.
